Day 11 of 31 — John 11
Scripture (John 11:25, NKJV)
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
John 11 meets us in one of the most painful places of life: waiting while it hurts. Mary and Martha loved Jesus. Lazarus was His friend. And still… Jesus didn’t rush. He delayed long enough that the situation looked final.
That’s the tension we all feel sometimes: “Lord, if You had been here…” (John 11:21).
But John 11 shows us something powerful—a delay is not a denial. Jesus wasn’t absent; He was purposeful. He was preparing to reveal a deeper truth: that He isn’t only a helper in emergencies—He is the Resurrection and the Life.
Before Jesus performs a miracle, He gives a promise:
“I am…”
Not “I can.” Not “I might.”
I AM.
That means your hope is not anchored to outcomes, timelines, or what you can see. Your hope is anchored to a Person—Jesus Christ—who stands in front of dead things and speaks life.
And when Jesus called Lazarus out, it wasn’t just about one man walking out of a tomb. It was a living message to every believer:
What feels buried isn’t beyond His voice.
What feels over isn’t over when Jesus is present.
If you’re carrying grief, disappointment, or something that feels “too far gone,” today you can pray with confidence:
“Jesus, speak life here.”
Practical application
Bring your “tomb” to Jesus: What have I accepted as hopeless?
Replace “It’s over” with “Jesus is still speaking.”
Take one faith step today: worship while waiting, pray again, forgive again, hope again.
Prayer
Jesus, You are the Resurrection and the Life. I bring You what feels dead, heavy, or beyond repair. Strengthen my faith when I don’t understand the timing. Speak life into my situation, and revive my hope in You. Even here, even now—I believe. Amen.
