Day 14 of 31 — John 14
Scripture (John 14:27, NKJV)
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14 is Jesus speaking calm into a storm. The disciples can feel change coming—uncertainty, fear, and the pressure of “what’s next.” And Jesus doesn’t deny the trouble… He offers a different kind of peace.
The world’s peace is usually conditional: if everything goes right, if the bills are paid, if the conflict ends, if the diagnosis changes… then I’ll have peace. But Jesus says, “My peace.” That means His peace isn’t dependent on circumstances—it’s rooted in His presence, His promises, and His authority.
“Let not your heart be troubled…” isn’t a harsh command. It’s a shepherding invitation: You don’t have to carry this alone. When your mind runs ahead, Jesus calls you back to Himself. When fear gets loud, His voice gets steady. When the path isn’t clear, His peace becomes the anchor.
Today, you may still have problems to face—but you don’t have to face them without Him. His peace is a gift—and He gives it to those who follow close.
Practical application
Name the trouble: What is trying to steal your peace today?
Receive His peace: Pause for 60 seconds and pray, “Jesus, I receive Your peace.”
Choose one step: Do the next right thing in faith, not fear.
Prayer
Jesus, You promised peace that the world cannot give. I bring You my troubled heart, my anxious thoughts, and my unknowns. Fill me with Your peace and steady my spirit. Help me trust You, follow You, and walk through today without fear. Amen.
