January 6th, 2026. The Book of John, Chapter 6
Morning Devotional
Scripture (John 6:35, NKJV)
“And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.’”
Lord, we come into today with hunger—maybe not for food, but for peace, clarity, strength, and reassurance. John 6 reminds us that You don’t just meet needs… You are the need we were made for.
So often we chase what’s temporary: approval, comfort, control, distraction—anything that promises to fill the empty places. But even when we “get it,” the hunger returns. Jesus stands in the middle of that restless striving and says something deeply personal: “I am the bread of life.” Not “I’ll give you bread,” but “Come to Me.” The answer isn’t a thing—it’s a Person.
This chapter calls us to shift from seeking Jesus for what He can do to seeking Jesus for who He is. When you come to Him first—before the noise, before the stress, before the day’s demands—He feeds your soul with truth. He steadies your heart. He strengthens your spirit. And He satisfies in a way the world cannot.
Today, if you feel drained, distracted, or spiritually dry, don’t just try harder—come closer. Jesus doesn’t shame hungry people. He invites them: “Come to Me… believe… and you will not thirst.”
Practical application
• Start your morning by praying: “Jesus, I come to You first.”
• Replace one “quick comfort” habit (scrolling, snacking, worry-looping) with 5 minutes in the Word.
• When you feel anxious today, whisper: “You are my Bread. You are enough.”
Jesus, You are the Bread of Life. Forgive me for trying to fill my soul with things that can’t satisfy. Today I come to You—feed me with Your truth, strengthen me with Your presence, and steady my heart with Your peace. Let my life reflect that You are enough. In Your name, amen.
