Day 15 of 31 — John 15

Scripture (John 15:5, NKJV)

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

John 15 is Jesus calling us to a life that’s more than trying harder—it’s a life of abiding.

A branch doesn’t strain to produce fruit. It simply stays connected to the vine. Fruit is the result of connection. And Jesus makes it plain: without Him, we can do nothing that truly lasts. We can stay busy. We can stay religious. We can even look productive… but real spiritual fruit comes from a living connection with Christ.

Abiding means staying close—when you feel strong and when you feel empty. It’s choosing daily communion with Jesus: His Word in your mind, His Spirit shaping your heart, His voice guiding your steps. It’s not about perfection; it’s about dependence.

If you’ve been feeling dry, worn down, or spiritually “stuck,” today isn’t the day to push harder. It’s the day to come closer. Stay connected. Stay surrendered. Stay with Jesus. The fruit will follow.

Practical application

  • Start the day with this prayer: “Jesus, I choose to abide in You.”

  • Read John 15 slowly and underline the word abide each time you see it.

  • Ask yourself: What is draining my connection with Christ? Remove one distraction today.

Prayer

Jesus, You are the vine and I am completely dependent on You. Teach me to abide—not just visit. Fill me with Your life, steady my heart, and grow real fruit in me: love, peace, patience, and obedience. I don’t want to do life without You. Amen.
