Day 25 of 31 — 1 John 3
Scripture (NKJV)
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” — 1 John 3:1
“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18
1 John 3 starts with a call to stop and stare: “Behold…” John is saying, “Look at this. Don’t rush past it.” The Father’s love is not a small thing—it’s a life-changing reality: you are called a child of God.
That means your identity isn’t built on your past, your failures, or your performance. In Christ, you belong. You’re not trying to earn a place—you’ve been given one.
But John doesn’t leave it as a warm feeling. He shows what this identity produces: a purified life and a practicing love.
If we are God’s children, we will desire what pleases our Father.
If we’ve been loved like this, we won’t be content with love that is only talk. Real discipleship moves from lips to hands.
So today, receive the Father’s love deeply—and then let that love flow outward in something practical: a message, a visit, a meal, a gift, a prayer, a sacrifice. Love in deed and truth is one of the clearest marks that Jesus is truly reigning in us.
Practical application
Say it aloud: “In Christ, I am a child of God.”
Ask: Who can I love “in deed” today?
Choose one action that costs you something small (time, comfort, convenience).
Prayer
Father, thank You for the love You have given me in Christ. Help me live as Your child—pure in heart, steady in faith, and sincere in love. Teach me to love not only with words, but with actions that reflect Jesus. Amen.
