Nightly Devotional — Proverbs (Day 6 of 31)

Proverbs 6 — Theme: Let God’s Word guard you while you sleep

Scripture (NKJV)

Proverbs 6:22

“When you roam, they will lead you;

When you sleep, they will keep you;

And when you awake, they will speak with you.”

Some nights your body is in bed, but your mind is still “on shift.” Replaying conversations. Worrying about tomorrow. Carrying what you couldn’t fix today.

Proverbs 6 gives you a simple, powerful promise: God’s instruction can keep you while you sleep. That means you don’t have to leave your heart unguarded overnight. The Word of God isn’t only for morning devotion—it’s for nighttime protection.

This verse paints a beautiful rhythm:

• When you roam — God’s truth leads you.

• When you sleep — God’s truth keeps you.

• When you awake — God’s truth speaks to you.

Tonight, instead of letting anxiety narrate your thoughts, let Scripture have the last word. You may not control what tomorrow brings, but you can choose what you’re anchored to tonight. The Lord doesn’t just give commands—He gives covering.

So breathe. Release the day. And let God’s Word stand watch over your mind and your home.

Father, thank You that Your Word can keep me while I sleep. I lay down every worry, every unfinished task, every fear about tomorrow. Guard my mind from anxious thoughts and my heart from heaviness. Let Your truth lead me, keep me, and speak to me. Give me peaceful rest, clear direction, and renewed strength when I wake. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Takeaway for Tonight

Before you sleep, say out loud: “Lord, keep me tonight—Your Word is my covering.”
