Day 8 of 31 — John 8
Scripture (John 8:12, NKJV)
“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Darkness doesn’t always look like chaos—it can look like confusion, heaviness, temptation, resentment, fear, or that quiet feeling of being stuck. In John 8, Jesus doesn’t just point to light… He declares, “I am the light of the world.”
That means you don’t have to manufacture your own brightness. You don’t have to “figure it all out” before you move forward. The promise is simple and strong: if you follow Him, you won’t keep walking in darkness.
Following Jesus doesn’t mean you never face dark moments—it means you’re never left alone in them. His light exposes what needs to be healed, reveals what’s true, and guides the next step when you can’t see the whole path.
Today, don’t just ask God to change your circumstances—ask Him to shine on your heart and lead you. The Light of the World is close enough to follow.
Practical application
• Ask: “Where am I walking without His light?” (a habit, a relationship, a worry, a decision)
• Take one step of obedience today—light is often revealed as you move.
• Pray this simple line when you feel overwhelmed: “Jesus, lead me. I will follow.”
Jesus, You are the Light of the World. Shine into every shadow in me—fear, pride, temptation, and uncertainty. Guide my steps today and give me the courage to follow You closely. Let Your light become the life in me and the hope through me. In Your name, amen.
