Day 4 of 31 — John 4
Scripture (John 4:13–14, NKJV)
“Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.’”
John 4 shows Jesus meeting a hurting, overlooked woman at an ordinary place—a well. And He doesn’t start with condemnation. He starts with conversation, then He moves straight to the deepest need of her heart.
This woman came for water, but Jesus reveals something bigger: thirst isn’t just physical. We all have places in us that run dry—peace, joy, hope, strength, confidence, purpose. We try to refill with temporary things: approval, productivity, distractions, control, entertainment… but we “thirst again.”
Jesus offers what nothing else can: Living Water—a life from God that doesn’t depend on circumstances. It’s not a quick fix; it’s a new source. When Jesus is your center, you’re no longer surviving on empty buckets. You’re being filled from an eternal spring.
And here’s the beautiful part: the woman doesn’t keep it to herself. She becomes a witness. Real encounters with Jesus turn into real impact. What Jesus pours into you, He intends to overflow through you.
Ask yourself: What have I been using to “quench” my soul lately?
Bring one honest need to Jesus today: “Lord, I’m thirsty for ______.”
Take one step toward the Source: Scripture, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, or reaching out for help.
Jesus, I confess the places in me that feel dry and empty. I’ve tried to fill my thirst with things that don’t last. Today I come to You—the Living Water. Fill me, renew me, and let Your life overflow through me into my home, my work, and my community. In Jesus’ name, amen.
