Love Is Not Just a Feeling

Biblical Love vs. Cultural Love

February 2026 Study

❤️ Week 1 · Day 2

Love Is Not Just a Feeling

Scripture: Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV)

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?”

Culture often tells us to “follow your heart,” treating emotion as the ultimate guide. Scripture offers a loving warning instead: the heart, apart from God, is unreliable. Feelings rise and fall with circumstances, but God’s truth remains steady and unchanging.

Biblical love does not ignore emotion—but it refuses to be ruled by it. Love that is driven only by feelings will struggle to endure disagreement, hardship, or sacrifice. God’s love goes deeper. It is intentional, faithful, and anchored in truth rather than impulse.

When love is grounded in God’s Word, it gains the strength to remain faithful even when emotions waver. As followers of Christ, we are not called to follow our hearts—we are called to submit our hearts to God’s truth.

Reflection:

When have my emotions led me away from God’s truth instead of toward it?

Prayer:

“God, don’t let my emotions lead me. Align my heart with Your truth, and teach me to love with faithfulness and wisdom.”
