Day 17 of 31 — John 17
Scripture (John 17:17, NKJV)
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. “
John 17 is one of the most intimate chapters in the Gospel—Jesus praying for His disciples… and for us. And at the center of that prayer is this: God’s people must be set apart by God’s truth.
“Sanctify” means to set apart, to make holy, to mark something for God’s purpose. That doesn’t happen by willpower alone. Jesus points to the real tool God uses to shape us: His Word.
The world is constantly trying to define you—what success is, what identity is, what truth is. But Jesus prays that we would be anchored in something unchanging:
“Your word is truth.”
When you live grounded in Scripture, you don’t drift with culture. You don’t get tossed by every opinion. You begin to think differently, respond differently, and walk differently—because truth is doing its work in you.
Today isn’t about knowing more Bible facts. It’s about letting God’s Word clean your thinking, steady your heart, and strengthen your walk—so your life looks like you belong to Jesus.
Practical application
Pick one verse today and carry it (write it down, set it as your lock screen, repeat it).
Ask God: “Where have I believed something false?” Then replace it with Scripture.
Make a 10-minute appointment with God’s Word—no rushing, no multitasking.
Prayer
Father, sanctify me by Your truth. Wash my mind and steady my heart with Your Word. Where I’ve been influenced by fear, confusion, or compromise—bring me back to what is true. Shape me into a disciple who reflects Jesus with integrity and love. Amen.
